Aerial Dance Fitness  with Tissu/Silk, Hammock & Hoop

The flagship of the Ruby Karen Project, Aerial Dance Fitness is a combination of long fabric, a looped fabric and a circular rod that drapes from a ceiling.  With proper education and technique,  one learns to how to execute exhilarating drops, allows one to form graceful movements while maneuvering physique with stamina that was either not tapped into or never knew had,  Call it – Tissu (Silks/ Fabrics), Hoop (Lyra), oh, and don’t forget about the hammock–no, not the kind you lounge on!

Whether for curiosity or to make a drastic change in your fitness regimen, the novelty of this art form is shaking the community with its challenging and addictive exercise nature. Aerial Dance Fitness© is designed and structured to meet the needs of both entry-level and already skilled athletes – a fusion of ground movement and fitness elements, with aerial Silk/Tissu/ Fabric, Hoop/Lyra, and Hammock, makes for a good workout, not to mention the efficiency of its educational content. Wait … look closely at our schedule, and you will see designated specialized solo apparatus. Do not underestimate the power of dance movements as it works out your artistry and grace, while also gearing towards posture, flexibility and strength. This class has been proven to be a great & effective weight loss program as well as a body sculpting, muscle forming exercise program.

About half the time is spent on flexibility and fitness exercises as well as learning basic dance combinations which you make your own, without having to stress about the style or technique you need to apply.

Static Trapeze (Beginners & Intermediate Level)

One of the classic disciplines in circus arts, Static Trapeze is a fixed aerial apparatus consisting of a bar supported by ropes on the side. You will learn various climbing techniques, balance on different forms, swings, turns and inversions. Just like its other counterparts, in Static Trapeze, you will develop strength, endurance and grace. A great class for an individual of any age, physical and fitness background.

Aerial Yoga with Hammock

The re-launching of this one-of-a-kind class offers a full body fitness work-out catered to any individual shape or age. Suspended on air and supported by aerial apparatus including hammock, exercises touch on body extremities and core to develop strength, flexibility, motor dynamics, spinal alignment, endurance, reflex sharpness, balance and somatic perceptions. This is a 1-hour class.

Aerial Conditioning

Ground pre warm up stretching and core exercises followed by pull ups, straddles, climbs, hip keys and other key elements to aerial arts on aerial apparatus such as silks/tissu, lyra/ hoop & hammock while suspended on air.

Kids Aerials (6-11 years old)

Great start for your kids to learn progressive cutting edge performing arts such as dance and aerial arts designed specifically for kids. The aerial apparatus will be Hoop and Hammock. Tissu is later introduced based on their development.

Flying Pole  (48 hr. online reservation is mandatory)

Inspired by the Chinese Pole, this is a great class for both genders.  Learn pole tricks while suspended on air,  You will learn pole climbs, inverts, straddles, slides and alike. This class requires student to either undergo aerial conditioning or assessment prior to enrolling in a package.

Double Cloud

An innovative apparatus involving double hammocks, this class is a bit more challenging to first time aerialists as one manipulate the fabric while maintaining balance.  Recommended for intermediate aerial hammock students, this class will definitely work out your core and keep you engaged all the time.

First part of the class focuses on flexibility with unique contortion yoga based exercises, followed by interpretative movements that is geared towards your own style.

Ballet Barre with Modern Jazz / Choreograhy (OPEN TO ALL AGES)

This class uses the barre as a key tool in carrying out stretch exercises for increase range of motion, provides correct posture and core balance. Center stage, you are given modern-jazz combinations to improve coordination skills and overall grace. A supplemental training session for apprentice students who want to bring their training to the next level.

After the barre stretch, the center exercises consist of a choreographic routine in the field of modern, jazz, ballet and latin. Movements are customized to the students’ level and are geared as a cross-training session for performing artists who wants to develop grace and improve motor and mental speed, rhythm and artistry. This class s taught by no other than Ruby Karen, World Title Holder in Salsa, Ballet Partnering and Acro-Gymnastics, and a well rounded performing artist in over 20 countries and 50 states around the world.

Apprentice Program

The program is geared towards pre-professional and recreational training in Performing Arts both from the front -end  and back-end production.  The sessions are used to master Aerial Arts skills they’ve learned.   The program offers benefits including participation and opportunity to perform at various productions of the Orange County Aerial Arts – RKP’s performing troupe and as such, get to learn added skills in Circus Arts, Acrobatics, Contortion, Hand-Hand Adagio/ Acro-gymnastic Partnering, and Dance in the form of Ballet, Jazz, Modern, and Latin. Each applicant is assessed and placed based on their skills and background. Previous and regular performance are with TRI-ART Festival, Dancescape, and Tri-Annual Showcases at Orange County Great Parks, OC Fairgrounds or at our headquarters.
Enrollment in this program requires enrollment with a class series and tuition payment is combined as a contract.

Open Playground Aerial Gym

Practice what you’ve learned from the Aerial Dance Fitness© or Aerial Conditioning classes during our Playground session. You can avail of  Tissu/ Silk, Hoop, Hammock or Trapeze. Our instructors will be there to supervise or spot you.


Open Gym Policy

This session allows the student to practice their skills. We highly discourage anyone from teaching during these sessions. However you may reserve a spot for your own sessions.

Party of 3 or more, please call (714) 330-7484 to reserve a separate session. This will allow other students to reserve their spot during a regular session.
