Movement interpretation Workshop – 1

Conducted by professionals in the field of performing arts and theater production, Ruby Karen and Nahuel Broin join forces to provide a specialized workshop geared towards aerial performers who want to boost their performance skills from a different standpoint that is overlooked and overshadowed by the world of competing aerial elements.

In this workshop, you will learn to study the music you chose or the theme you want to portray to our audience. You will learn the stages of approaching your training to focus on your objective and to translate it to where the audience can clearly receive and understand your message.

This workshop is for artists (aerialists and dancers) who have performed at least once and has 1 year training experience in the field they are focused on.

 

About Nahuel Broin: His career has taken him across the world where he has worked as an aerial both an acrobatic performer and a teacher of aerial, dance, and acrobatics in many arenas. 9th WEST COAST AERIAL ARTS FESTIVAL (VIRTUAL)
November 11-14, 2021

This is the only festival of its kind that brings together aerialists from coast to coast, and from around the globe, ranging in age from 7 to ‘senior’, and covering standard and inventive apparatuses with skill level ranging from amateurs to professionals.  The West Coast Aerial Arts Festival is hosted by Aerial Arts America, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with mission to expand awareness and education in the aerial arts community.

Other activities being offered at the WCAA Festival:
  • Workshops by guest artists highly regarded in their respective fields.
  • Merchandise vendors in the related field including Fusion, Ruby Karen Products and other participating retailers and suppliers.
  • Silent Auction – Support AAA’s programs.  Lots of items to choose from donors including Water Grill, Trader Joes, Fusion Climb, to name a few who are in related aerial arts field.

Description of Classes

Teens/ Adults Open Aerials (12 yrs and above)

This is an open level and mixed apparatus on Tissu, Lyra/ Hoop and Hammock and is geared towards teens and adults, regardless of whether they have experience or not.   We also offer other aerial disciplines and are specifically designated. e.g. “Rope/ Corde Lisse”, “Trapeze”. Lessons are customized and adjusted according to any of the (7) placement levels the student belongs to. Assessment of new student is conducted on their first class.

Whether learning fundamentals or progressive skills, direction to techniques including stillness, rest, neutral and holding positions, momentum, weight bearings and balance transfers; climbs, spins & hangs, foot-locks, crochet and straddle inversions, hip keys and combination sequences.

Kids Aerials  (6-11 years old)

Great start for your kids to learn progressive cutting edge and codified aerial classes designed especially for kids. The aerial apparatus are Hoop (aka Lyra) and Hammock (aka Sling). Tissu (aka Silks) is later introduced based on their development/ level.

Open Gym Practice

Open Gym is a perfect session for those who can independently and safely train and operate an aerial apparatus.  We have available safely disinfected and quarantined apparatus including Tissu/ Silks, Hoop, Hammock, Corde Lisse or Trapeze or you can bring your own upon subject to inspection and approval by our in-house certified rigger.  Our instructor will assist you in setting up the apparatus you need.

*This session is not used as a platform to instruct or skill share.  If you wish to do so, please contact us to discuss studio rental.

Apprentice Program

The program is geared towards recreational and pre-professional training in performing arts, both from the production’s front and backend.  The sessions are used to master aerial arts skills that have been formally learned.   The program offers benefits including participation and opportunity to perform at various productions of the Orange County Aerial Arts – RKP’s performing troupe, and as such, get to learn added skills in Circus Arts, Acrobatics, Contortion, Hand-Hand Adagio/ Acro-gymnastic Partnering, and Dance in the form of Ballet, Jazz, Modern, and Latin. Each applicant is assessed and placed based on their skills and background. Previous and regular performance are with TRI-ART/ Festival of the Arts, Dancescape, and Tri-Annual Showcases at Orange County Great Parks, OC Fairground’s Imaginology, South Coast Plaza’s Children of Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival and more.

If you are interested in this program, please contact us so we may discuss the program more in detail.  Enrollment is open to everyone regardless of age or placement level, however a minimum of six (6) months’ previous training in circus and aerials is recommended.  The training consist of  four (4) technique classes in aerial arts and unlimited “apprentice” session for the student to practice every month, thus requires enrollment in a class series and apprentice series, with a long term commitment.  Please contact us if you have any questions regarding this program or to review the Apprentice Guidelines.

Private Sessions 
A student can choose to learn one-on-one with an instructor. We offer a very reasonable rate for sessions in aerials consisting of a variety of apparatuses, choreography for your competition or show routines and coaching.  We also have packaged aerial sequences to choose from.  Click HERE to book a private or contact us to discuss your needs.

SPECIAL PRIVATE AERIAL SESSIONS

Jump your aerial vocabulary with these special training sessions.  You can choose from a variety of skills according to your level. Each option equates to 6-12 lessons, thereby learning these at a shorter period of time and provides big savings appropriated for your aerial tuition. There are at least TEN (10) OPTIONS to choose from.

COST:       Single Person: $120/1.5 hrs             Double:  $170./1.5 hrs.
